Our Ukrainian partners have personally asked us for field spades specifically made by Fiskars for the Finnish army. Our Ukrainian partners are convinced that these Finnish shovels are the best.
Field spades significantly increase an individual soldier's chances of survival. Indirect fire (artillery and mortars) causes the majority of casualties in the Ukrainian war. With open terrain and air cover, indirect fire is capable of inflicting heavy casualties. On a "transparent" battlefield, an individual's only real protection against indirect fire is to dig in.
